Frequently Asked Questions

 

How old does my child have to be to play in DKB?

If your child is turning four within the year, they are eligible for the Under 4 (U4) division. This group would be for children born in 2018 for the 2022 Season.

What do the division ages mean?

The age divisions are U4, U5, U6, U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18. These refer to “6 and under”, “8 and under” etc.  This means if your child is turning 7 or 8 in the calendar year, they will be eligible for the U8 division. If they are turning 9 or 10 in the calendar year, they will be eligible for the U10 team, etc.

When does my child play on the big field?

The U4 and U5 divisions play on modified mini fields behind the Community Centre in Komoka

The U6, U8, and U10 divisions play on small fields (Delaware, Mount Brydges, Kilworth)

The U12, U14, U16, U18 divisions play on full, regulation sized, fields (Delaware, Mount Brydges, Komoka and London Youth soccer league fields)

Is DKB soccer co-ed?

The U4, U5, and U6 division are co-ed. As of the 2015 season, all age groups U8 and above are separate boy and girl teams. 

How do I register my child?

Click on the Sportsavvy Online registration link from our website. Registrations are done online and can be paid via PayPal or Credit Card. If you are unable to pay online please contact us. Registration will be open from Jan 31th until March 15th. Any registrations after this time will assessed a $40 late fee.  

What days will my child play games and have practices?

U4/U5 - Saturday Mornings for 45mins-1hour.

U6 – Monday night – ½ hour practice followed by a ½ hour game. 

U8 - Tuesday night games. The practice day will be determined by the team coach.

U10 – Wednesday night games. The practice day will be determined by the team coach.

For U12 and up, the schedule is determined by the  London Soccer League.  Practice day and times will be determined by the team coach.  

What times are games played?

Start times for games for all age divisions range between 6 and 7 o’clock.  The start time listed on the U6 schedule is when you should show up at the field. The U6 practice will take place first, then followed by the game. 

When will the season start?

U4/U5 division - generally starts the 3rd/4th week of May, depending on field conditions

U6 division – generally starts the 3rd week of May, depending on field conditions 

U8 to U10 – generally start the 2nd week of May, depending on field conditions 

U12 and up - season to start week of May 13th

I would like to Coach. Will my child automatically be put on my team?

Yes. If you would like to volunteer to be coach or assistant coach, we will make sure that your child is placed on your team. You will need to fill out an online coach registration form (found on website home page) along with a Vulnerable Sector Screening check(found under the Coaches heading). 

What are Evaluations/Intrasquads?

Evaluations/Intrasquad nights normally take place 1st week of May and consist of warm-up drills followed by scrimmages. Coaches and board members evaluate players for the purpose of evenly distributing players according to skill level, creating competitively balanced teams via coach draft.
